A long overdue HUGE update!

EDIT: If you do want custom decals similar to these it would be best to contact me at karen@dalidecals.com and not here :) And if you happen to order any it would be super cool to see pictures XD

I’ve missed doodling so very much but I’ve been working loads since I graduated and well I pretty much get home and veg out haha! I have been working on some daily comics in my sketchbook though, I’m super excited to start posting those up. In the meantime, I thought I’d let you guys in on the kind of things I work on at my job at DaliDecals.com

Dali Decals is a wall vinyl decal online store and they offer cut vinyl decals, custom printed wall decals and printed canvas too!

Perfect for boys!

& Perfect for girls!

I’m one of their product designers (those up there are designs I’ve created) and I also work on a lot of custom orders for cut and printed decals like these:

You might remember my last post that looked similar to this. The customer wanted more colors and detail so I revised the design and this is what she was happy with :). Can’t wait to see it printed!

Forest creatures!! Who doesn’t love forest creatures?? And we have 36 semi-gloss colors and 45 matte colors to choose from for our cut vinyl decals for all you color combination needs!

These cut vinyl cuties come separated by color for easier application and because cut decals are cut from sheets of vinyl, each sheet being one color.

And that’s my spiel about my job which I love so much. How could I not when I get to make happy homes with my illustrations? It’s just one step closer to making the world a happier place one cute illustration at a time… And it’s kinda cool to have my artwork put up on people’s walls XD

If you guys ever want some cute decals for your homes, feel free to let me know ;) Oooh! And tell your friends! (We do international shipping!)

All work is copyrighted by DaliDecals.com, please do not steal because I’ll get in trouble, you’ll get in trouble and I’ll cry ;^;

Pinterest is love… & book update.

I know it’s been a while but I have some exciting news to share (for me anyway haha). Recently I was invited to join this website called Pinterest which is like a virtual pinboard. It’s a site where you can post the things you love and follow collections other people have created. It’s a really fun site once you get used to it, sometimes I can’t stop myself from posting so many in a day… sorry followers haha.

Well today I was mentioned in one of Joey Marchy’s pins and it was about of a poster I did earlier this year for the Jacksonville Film Festival:

[Poster designed in Illustrator.]

When I made this I was told that it would be reused for future events and the one he posted was a modified version for another screenwriting workshop. It’s pretty neat that they did :D

So about that character catalog I was creating… It’s actually turned into a book called “Cute and Creepy Characters” that focuses on story-telling with character designs and it contains introductions to four original stories. It’s only volume one because I plan on making more in the future. It’s still in the works but I’m very excited to complete it and show you guys!

So we were required to design a poster for a musical artist of our choice in class a few months ago. I chose the japanese electropop group, Capsule. I absolutely love their music and their video Jumper was a big inspiration for this design. Hope you all enjoy!

Earlier this year in design class, we were asked to make poster’s for a local event. I chose to make one for the Enzian Theatre. I sketched about 50 thumbnails but I narrowed it to 3 ideas. After much critique, this design turned out to be the favorite, so I continued to work with it in Illustrator. I tried many color combinations but this one was the most eye catching by far and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I’ve been meaning to contact them to see if they might want to use it but I haven’t exactly gotten around to it… Well, Enjoy! :]

Art Walk is love.

Big day today! I will be featured at the Printing.com store at Art Walk in downtown jax tonight. This will be my first art show so it’s very exciting for me. I got most of my work ready but some still needs a bit of refining. Also, my friend Jimmy will be participating in AIGA’s Atomic Sketch. If you’re in the area be sure to check it out :D
